When the buffer is full, instead of stopping capture, USBTrace will wrap around the buffer and start writing data again from the beginning. Continuous capturing simulates an infinite buffer.

Trigger facility allows you to define a condition and capture operation will stop automatically when that condition is satisfied.

Performance Statistics

Hardware Compatibility

CyberLink PowerDVD 9 offers complete multi-channel (4/6/7/8), S/PDIF and HDMI sound device support, including (but not limited to) devices from Analog Devices, Aureal, Creative, Cirrus/Crystal, CMedia, ESS, Fortemedia, KCTech, Philips/VLSI, Realtek, IDT, SiS, TI, Yamaha, VIA, and any other sound device that supports the Microsoft WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE interface.

It is recommended that you install the latest driver from the original card/device manufacturer, not a Windows built-in driver, in order for multi-channel output to work properly.

CyberLink PowerDVD 9 supports Microsoft DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) in display chips or integrated chipsets from Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, SiS, and VIA/S3. Acceleration functions include Entropy Decode, Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform, Hardware Motion Compensation and Subpicture Alpha Blending units.

If "Hardware Acceleration" is enabled, some systems might display subtitles incorrectly. This is because the display driver only supports an old format of the Microsoft DXVA interface. It is recommended that you install the latest drivers from the original card/chip maker in order for this function to work flawlessly.

CyberLink PowerDVD 9 is fully optimized for multimedia instruction sets, such as AMD 3D Now! Professional, Enhanced 3D Now!, 3DNow!, Intel Streaming SIMD Extensions 2/3/4 (SSE/2/3/4), MMX, the Hyper-Threading technology, dual-core and quar-core CPU supported.

CyberLink PowerDVD 9 is compatible with new DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW, DVD+RW, DVD-Multi, DVD-Dual, DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drives, BD-ROM, BD-RE, BD-R, BD combo drives with IEEE 1394, USB 2.0, ATAPI, SCSI or CardBus interface, as long as the drive conforms to the SFF8090 command set and SBP-2 (if applicable).

CyberLink PowerDVD 9 is compatible with all Centrino, Socket 478, Socket 423, Socket 370, Slot 1, Socket A and Slot A chipsets from Intel, VIA, SiS, ALi, NVIDIA, and AMD.

The features of hardware deinterlace and "Read it clearly" may need driver support. If you find problems when using these features, update your driver to latest one and then try again.

CyberLink PowerDVD 9 is capable of high-definition audio decoding. In the past, due to the industries lack of common secure audio path technology, all protected audio content (eg. DVD-Audio, Blu-ray Disc) will force audio to be down-sampled to 48 kHz/16 bit output resolution. CyberLink PowerDVD 9 now supports HDMI 1.3, which can transport lossless audio streams with 192 kHz/24 bit output resolution for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master audio formats for Blu-ray Disc content.

CyberLink PowerDVD 9 compatible sound cards are Realtek ALC885 and ALC889, and Auzentech X-Fi HomeTheater HD. CyberLink will keep updating the compatible sound card list.

General Playback Performance and Quality Issues

External subtitle loading: For loading external subtitles, you should name the subtitle file with the same file name as the playback video file.

DMA Mode:
It is HIGHLY recommended that you enable the DMA function of your DVD-ROM in order to reduce CPU loading when accessing DVDs. Windows XP and Windows 2000 both contain built-in DMA support.

Display Issues:
To ensure that CyberLink PowerDVD works properly, please install DirectX version 9.0 or higher.

Deinterlace issues:
CyberLink smart deinterlace is sophisticated video processing technologies that requires a lot of CPU power. If both bit stream analysis method and pixel adaptive are used, it is recommended that you use at least a 1.8 GHz system for optimal performance.

Blu-ray Disc Playback Capability and Limitation:
* Due to the high computation requirement for Blu-ray Discs, you may experience some video quality drop, frame drops or lower performance on particular titles. Make sure your hardware meets the minimum system requirements for Blu-ray Disc playback.
* It is also recommended that all non-critical applications are closed before starting Blu-ray Disc playback. Full CPU/GPU clock-rate is reserved for CyberLink PowerDVD Blu-ray Disc playback.
* Blu-ray Disc playback on an external monitor via a DVI/HDMI connector requires an HDCP capable display device.
* Advanced Access Content System (AACS) is supported for commercial content playback. Occasional renewals of AACS keys are required. An Internet connection is required for this operation.

TrueTheater™ - Technology Related Issues

TrueTheater™ Technology (HD/Motion/Lighting/Stretch) are sophisticated video processing technologies that require higher CPU power. If TrueTheater™ HD or TrueTheater™ Motion is enabled (especially in conjunction with other audio effects), it is recommended that you use at least a 2.0 GHz system for optimal performance. CyberLink PowerDVD 9 can dynamically adjust the TrueTheater™ technology (HD/Motion/Lighting) for users according to CPU usage.

TrueTheater™ Technology is implemented within a CyberLink proprietary video decoder. Thus, this technology is not available when hardware video acceleration is enabled.

TrueTheater™ Technology is also not available under Blu-ray Disc playback due to the limitation of platform horsepower.

Advanced Testing

The seven advanced testing windows allow experienced users to create their own test scenarios and conduct an in-depth analysis of their hardware's behavior. Each advanced testing window allows the user to select from a number of parameters and when appropriate graph the results, export the results and measure the CPU load. By adjusting the input parameters is it possible to measure the optional performance under a variety of different scenarios.

Advanced Disk Testing
Test the speed of your disk using different file sizes, block sizes and caching options.

Advanced CD / DVD Testing
Test the speed of your CD or DVD drive using different test durations, block sizes and caching options.

Advanced 3D Testing
Test the speed of your 3D video card by selecting from options such as fogging, lighting, alpha blending, wire frame, texturing, resolution, color depth, object rotation and object displacement.

Advanced Networking Test
Measure the network speed between any two computers using TCP/IP. The network speed test can be conducted across a company LAN or across the Internet to determine the point to point throughput. Adjust parameters such as the host name, IP address, port number and block size. Works with dialup modems, ADSL, cable and LANs.

Advanced Memory Test
Measure the read and write speed of your RAM. Parameters include data size (8 bits to 32 bits) and a selection of two test modes. Linear sequential access across various block sizes or non sequential access with a varying step size. This allows both the effect of RAM caching and the optimizations in the memory controller to be investigated.

Advanced Multitasking Test
Run a series of standard benchmark tests in parallel to examine the performance under these conditions. Multiple processor machines should excel under this kind of environment, as the load is split between the various CPUs.
